“Kwamwena” is a Soli word meaning a peaceful/quiet area. Her Royal Highness Senior Chieftainess Nkomeshya Mukamambo II endorsed the name.

“Kwamwena Valley” is a new medium cost residential area with regulated developments, comprising 7,500 plots. The plot sizes are in the range of 400 square metres (20m x 20m) to 600 square metres (20m x 30m). Meanwood Property Development Corporation Limited and Galaunia Farms Limited are promoting the project.

“Kwamwena Valley” is located about 2.5 km from the Great East Road Munali roundabout. From there proceed along Kaunda Square Road past Kaunda Square turn-off and 1km from the Zambia National Service
Mess.
The area will have low to medium cost houses similar to Woodlands Extension, Chelston, Kabwata and Emmasdale. Prospective buyers will be required to build quality standard two, three or four bedroomed houses. These houses will have minimum construction requirements to ensure high standards are maintained. House floor sizes allowed range from 70 square metres to 200 square metres, depending on plot size.
Prospective buyers should complete and submit application forms. Promoters will evaluate application forms and issue letters of offer to all successful applicants. The successful applicants can then pay for the plot (s) as per terms of the letters of offer.

There are three sizes of plots - 400 square metres, 500 square metres and 600 square metres. Prices are as follows;

- 400 square metre plot - K 10,000,000 cash,
- 500 square metre plot - K 12,500,000 cash,
- 600 square metre plot - K 15,000,000 cash.

*Prospective buyers who wish to buy bigger plots are permitted to buy and amalgamate/merge adjoining plots.

The promoters do not give mortgages or loans. Prospective buyers are therefore expected to raise finances on their own through loans from their employers, commercial banks and building societies. However, for the financing of plots, prospective buyers are free to approach Meanwood Finance Corporation Limited
(MFC), whose finance scheme offers up to 3 (three) years payment terms subject to a deposit of 20% of the th purchase price. MFC are located on the 4 Floor of Design House on Cairo Road and in the Meanwood Sales Office in Church House.
